September Fun in 3 Modde

September was our first full month of school!
Check out some photos from the fun and exciting activities and learning experiences 3M had in September!

On the second week of school we took time to study our past Narrative Writing pieces from previous school years. The students loved looking back at their work, remembering memories, and seeing how far they have grown as writers. They used these pieces to help them make goals for Narrative Writing for third grade. You can see one of our friends below looking through her writing portfolio and spending time studying her previous pieces.

During the month of September we also visited the OB Garden for the first time! We spent time harvesting food from the garden previously planted by former third graders (fourth graders now) last spring. The kids for the most part loved the food we tried... well except for a few of us. :) Thank you to Mrs. Hellman for taking care of and teaching us so much about plants and gardening!

Pea pods were a hit with the kids. Kale was not! As you can see on our faces. :)

We also played many Math Games this month! Some of our favorites were Compare War (Place Value) and Rounding to the Nearest Hundred.

Finally, we ended September by measuring our shadows for our Light Unit. The students went outside morning, mid-day, and afternoon to measure their shadows. We found out our shadows were the shortest at mid-day! It was also a great opportunity to see students work in partners.

As you can see, September was an awesome month of school! We all are looking forward to the learn and fun times we will have in the month of October! Stay tuned!
